Counselling based in St Ives, Cornwall.
As a counsellor, what I offer is a warm, non-judgmental approach and the chance for you to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. With this support can come the healing and clarity needed to reach your own conclusions and solutions.
The aim is to help you find a way towards greater self-acceptance and resilience, and a life that feels more meaningful and purposeful to you.
I practise person-centred counselling which is based on the belief that there is a natural striving in every one of us for growth and fulfilment.
This approach offers empathy and understanding in a safe, accepting space, away from our usual circle. It can help us reflect on what we want from life, free ourselves from the emotional legacy of difficult experiences, and leave behind protective behaviours that no longer work for us.
I work with people from across the spectrum of age and life experience dealing with issues such as anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, addiction and bereavement. They might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed or lost, facing a challenging life event or navigating a time of transition.
The areas I specialise in are:
As well as having my own private practice, I’m an Anxiety UK Approved Therapist, a Bereavement Volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Support, and a volunteer counsellor with We Are With You (supporting people with drug, alcohol and mental health issues).
I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with its Ethical Framework. I have ongoing clinical supervision and engage in continuing professional development. I also have an enhanced DBS certificate.
You choose how you want to work – in person, online or over the phone. In-person sessions take place at a welcoming, completely confidential space in the centre of St Ives. When you get in touch we can arrange a first session and maybe commit to more – an initial series of six weekly sessions suits many clients. Each session lasts up to one hour.
During our initial session we can talk about what brings you to counselling, what you’d like from therapy and my approach to the process. I offer this first session at a reduced rate of £30.
